Write for us

We welcome original proposals that help readers understand a building form, material, construction detail or relationship between buildings and public space. A strong contribution makes one clear point without asking readers to take a professional judgment on trust.

What to pitch

Send a concise account of the subject, the question your piece answers and the main points you would cover. Tell us what makes the subject worth a reader’s attention and why the explanation can stand on its own without specialist access, first-hand testing or a local rule check.

A useful approach

We value specific examples, careful distinctions and plain language. Explain technical terms when they are needed, make clear what is observation and what is interpretation, and avoid sweeping claims about styles, materials or how all buildings are made. Pitches should be original and disclose any relevant commercial interest.

How to send a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication; please do not send a complete manuscript unless requested.

Our point of view

A building is an argument in materials

Its doors, windows and surfaces make choices visible. We explain what those choices do without pretending every design works equally well.
